On The Road

“On The Road” - 8/18/25

When I look out the window right now
I have two options and they’re both tempting
See the not-so-straight parallels hanging along
Highway rivaling the trees silently toeing the
Line between elective travels and underlining
Ironies

North, South, East, West it all seems arbitrary
From the vantage point of a traveling artist
When we enter a new state there are of course
New rules ignorance is no excuse or rather it’s
Helpful to notice when the culture shifts
Subtleties

Are a privilege I realize I am graced so much
Love around me constantly occasionally hate
That word is thrown around others tell me to
Be careful be safe don’t flaunt hide the symbols
That make you an object of potential fixation
Abnormalities

Versus commonalities it’s something I consider
Less and less I’ve always sought difference
Quested after ‘opposites’ relegated fear to a
Basement tier ghosts underfoot foundation’s
Quiet hum oh my soul needle-won stitching soft
Embroideries
